ArowanaDe-comming aro comm tank for cichlid comm tank

Yo yo...
Changing underwear. Intend to convert my existing aro comm tank to a chapalang cichlid comm tank setup. Thus, what other necessities/deco apart from sand, spiky corals and coral rocks is needed to have a false marine tank look???
Any suggestion/recommendation is appreciated. TIA
Currently having the b/m items:
Tank - 5x2.5x2ft
Filtration
- 2x OHF with 3 pumps (1500 l/h x2 (4ft ohf), 1200 l/h (3ft ohf) - inverted to act as skimmer).
- Hiblow baby for airtube and airstone.
Medias
- Coarse ceramic long sticks (kao sai) .
- M size coarse ceramic rings (8kg).
- Coral chips - 5kg.
Lightset
- 5ft submersible LED light (white and yellow x1 each). Which color to use is more suitable???
"Volcano eruption" big designer DW - Is it ideal for cichlid tank setup???
Current livestocks to be disposed off in due time accordingly:
- Tagged team rtg aros x2 (12" 24" - reserved for....).
- Tiger x3 (12" IT - posted in b/s for trade with fh, 6" NTT, 5" AT).
- Albino pleco x2 (13" $ 5")

When putting in the spiky corals or coral rocks better find something to cushion the tank base
like egg crates after that you can slowly cover some sand and arrange your rocks and cover sand again.
Looking forward for your new chapalang cichlid tank setup.

Looking forward for your new chapalang cichlid tank setup. Oh ya hor!!!... didnt crossed my mind to cushion the heavy weights of large corals and rocks which is bad for the base tank. Okie, will use cut to size styrofoam board as cushions for heavy objects.
It will take quite sometime to complete my chapalang cichlid comm tank project. Shall update here for sharing and haolian haolian abit upon projects completion.. Meanwhile, I am reading up to gather more info on cichlid tank setup from internet. Surprising, dw also can be part of the display setup. Swee, my designer "volcano dw spewing ashes" can come into play liao...
Appreciate it and thks, bro...
>Hmm... tot of a cheapskate idea. Since will be taking a lazy stroll after breakfast in a short while, why not just comb my neighbourhood community garden and nearby ongoing construction sites to search for big rocks and stones or pebbles. Swee...
>Incomplete tank setup. Led lightset changed to white color instead of yellow color. I managed to find some med sz stones at construction sites. Shortfall sand, and of course the amazing colorful cichlids. Once i got everthing ready, then will decide the 2x aros fate. Wtf, me 54 yrs old liao and have not tasted dragon fish meat before. Mai tu liao ko tann si mi (thinking of 2 dinner feast dishes liao - asam leng hee and leng hee hee tao lor).

>Redundant "volcano" dw removed and replaced by a giant frog (internal fully stuffed with coarse ceramic rings and seachem matrix) sitting on kao sai blowing bubbles thru its nostrils.
Will layout some med size stones, and maybe a thin layer of sand for ease of maintenance later on. Stay tune!

>Struggled to carry 2 bags of heavy stones (3pcs est ttl 20kg - 1 large beautiful cray stone, 2 med sz rocks) from nearby construction sites (short distance est 300m) with interval stops along the way home. Sibeh tung and poo poo chuan sia...
Stones are scrapped and soaked in hot boiling water inside pail now. However, need to repeat the soaking and scrapping process a couple of times, and also need to sun dry before use... By this Sat, stones should be ready and good to go... stay tune!

>Correction - Stones are scrubbed and soaked in hot boiling water inside pail now. However, need to repeat the soaking and scrubbing process a couple of times, and also need to sun dry before use... Ang mo bo ho... paiseh paiseh... Anyone using cray stones / rocks from the underground earth???
>Yo yo... buay tann liao. 2nd cleaning on stones/rocks done this early 7 morning 8 morning, sun dried and just put inside tank. It seems like need to add more stones/rocks. Will search and pick again at construction sites later on.
My trial and error using underground earth stones/rocks as experiment for aquarium use. Intuition tells me it is gonna be ok. Thus, i dont bother about water quality and livestocks. Ka ka lai...ai zai, ai zai...

>Yo yo... Now left only the coral chips for the stones/rocks surrounding areas, instead of using sand. As for cichlid fish, will only buy those colorful species (e.g peacock, etc...). Selling rojak, so tanks setup must look messy with lagi rojak chapalang cichlid fish mah...

I like the "poon la pa" giant frog sitting lazily at one corner of the tank always admiring the fishes.. At times when being disturbed by me (doing adjustment), it would get angry and shouts at me... ko cho simi LC, mai cha wa lah...
